Le Plateau des Glières


Plateau des Glières (altitude 1450m) is situated in the mountains of Petit-Bornand-les-Glières. This landscape of Alpine-meadows is surrounded by forests and mountains, with grandiose views.

Thanks to the footh-paths the Plateau is great for hiking with the whole family. For the ones who want a longer hike or a hike more difficult there are different hikes starting from the Plateau. These hikes bring you across the mountains, the Alpine-meadows and trough the forests (see also chapter ‘Hikes: Plateau des Glières’).

In wintertime you can also practise cross-country skiing on Le Plateau des Glières.

History
Plateau des Glières was the location of one of the biggest battles between the French Resistance and the Nazis in World War 2. There is a big monument on the Plateau to remember this, which you can visit.
